Hosted By: Morning Beckons Farm
RESULTS!!
I would like to personally thank you each and every one of you for your donations once again this year to support this great event. For those of you that could not attend the Event, I started by thanking all of you for your support as many of you have supported for several years now. I hope to have the final results with more photos and scores posted quickly on the Light Livestock Equipment website. However to quickly recap the day… We started out in the apprentice class and a late entry stole the show. Alyssa Ebel (Jeffrey Ebel Shearing Services) was able to slowly and steadily shear her way to a win. Next up was the Journeyman(Journeywoman) class and Alyssa again was able to shear her way to victory by one of the narrowest of margins. Having shorn more alpacas in a morning then in her whole life she decided to let a fellow competitor take her spot in the Open/Master class.
The master class did not disappoint as usual. I did miss John “The Machine” Gunther who is off training still from his TV stardom on TUF 27 The Ultimate Fighter. However we had newcomer Adam Riley (MR CLIPPER) that flew in from AR just to see what all the fuss has been about. The competition started out fierce with the top 3 competitors only separated by 2 points after one round and Jay “The G.O.A.T “ Mariacher (Mariacher Shearing Services) found himself tied with Adam and 2 points behind Jeffrey Ebel. For those of you New Englanders that don’t know what GOAT stands for you can ask Tom Brady. I sent Jay a text message after last year’s competition and he didn’t know what I meant when I said that to him. At days end Jeffrey Ebel ended up willing his way to victory to avenge his loss last year to second place finisher Jay( 4 year defending Champion). Jay has now Won 6 shearing Championships and finished 2nd in the other 3. I believe that he has now won 3 best blanket awards in a row and along with Malcom Cooper (Cooper Shearing Services)are the only competitors to have shorn in all 9 years competitions.
Side note: The Husband and wife duo of Jeffrey and Alyssa Ebel stole the show on Jeffrey’s Birthday. Happy late birthday Jeffrey.
Special thanks to Heiniger USA and Rita Long for her great generosity once again in supporting this event with prizes. Also many thanks to judges Cheri Seiler(Good Time Ridge Farm. LLC), and Vern Butler(Morning Beckons Farm). Last but not least all thanks to all of the volunteers, head holders, sweepers and especially the shearers.
We hope to be holding the event again next year for the 10th Annual North American Alpaca Shearing contest at Morning Beckons Farm on Saturday June 15th. So mark your calendars and tell all of your friends.

A very special thanks once again to Rita and Kathy at Heiniger USA for all of their wonderful prizes, that the guys thoroughly enjoy receiving. Without them the event would not be as big.
